Friday Evening Champion Awards Dinner

 

All Welcome. The Chapter Delegate Registration fee includes Friday dinner at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West).  Public tickets are also available. (Advance tickets $65; Students $35).

Please join us for an evening sharing a traditional Afghan meal and entertainment. We will celebrate our Champions for Education and look forward to hearing from our special guest, Louise Pascale as she shares her stories of the Afghan Children's Songbook project.

Our special guest, Rebecca Miller will end our sessions by sharing her personal and professional perspectives from living and working in Afghanistan. She will share her passion for the development of Afghan libraries, archives and information centers to foster increasing literacy levels and a culture of reading and research.

Dr. Lauryn Oates (CW4WAfghan Programs Director) will discuss the realities in Afghanistan today, as well as our accomplishments and impacts from our three program areas: Investment in Basic Education; Afghanistan Reads! Community Literacy, Libraries and Books; and Technology for Education

A panel of seasoned experts share their best strategies for building a better education system and improving teaching and learning for Afghan children.

Hear what is working in the field today from those innovating in education, literacy and libraries. Each presenter will briefly highlight one specific tool that they consider especially novel and important in their work, and then the panel members will move into a broad discussion on the topic with Delegates.

Award winning journalist and author, Sally Armstrong, who is well known as a mentor, expert human rights activist...and friend...of CW4WAfghan members, will close our symposium with her vision of Afghanistan Ascending.
